This performance captures the process of attempting to memorise T.S. Eliot’s ‘Burial of the Dead’, and photographing every time
the recital failed.
The poem is serval pages long, winding and fragmented, resulting in a collection of photos looking confused and bewildered.
This photographic document creates tension between subject and the medium, as still images fail to fully capture a time sensitive, auditory performance.
This record doesn’t permit the viewer to judge the performance itself, only its document.
